A Fishing Story

Sermon from Pastor Russ Falk | Worship leader: Kevin Phillips

Passage: Matthew 13:47-50

There is a time to collect, and a time to sort.

In our parable today, Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a fishing net that gathers and collects everything in its path. But gathering is only half the story—after the gathering comes the sorting, and the fish are sorted, the good from the worthless. To the surprise of no one, the good fish are kept, and the worthless ones thrown out.

So how do you get the designation of a good fish & avoid being thrown into a very unpleasant place?

Truth is, there is only ONE way to avoid this: be righteous.

The bad news is that we are not righteous, the good news is that God has made a way for us to be righteous.
