Baptism Sunday Ahead

On Sunday, October 2nd, 2022, we will have a Baptism Sunday at South Calgary. Mark this date on your calendar, and join us for this upcoming special service.

Just a note on preparation for this service. Pastor Russ has been meeting with and ministering to those who will be baptized. Pastor Sam will be preparing an evangelistic message to share the gospel with the families who will be visiting us. I am working on the music to sing with the congregation. So, what can you do to prepare for this service, you ask? Let's use the 4 action words we are focused on through September and early October to give you suggestions; churchING, bibleING, prayING, witnessING.

ChurchING: Come! Gathering as a family of God to celebrate with those making a public declaration of their desire to follow Jesus is an amazing benefit of being part of the local church.

BibleING: Read! Matthew 28:19-20 is a good place to start. Also, in Acts 8:26-40, you will find an awesome story of a man who was striving to understand the Scriptures. When God's Word was explained to him, there came the desire to be baptized, and he was a changed man.

PrayING: Pray! For those who will be baptized. For their family members who don't know Jesus. For Pastor Russ to have the wisdom to guide them. For Pastor Sam, who will be preaching Jesus Christ. For God to teach you what to pray.

WitnessING: Proclaim! On October 2nd, we will be gathered as the body of Christ, and I plan for us to sing "In Christ Alone". I encourage you to practice and sing this song every day until October 2nd. Proclaim the gospel to yourself daily with this song. Then let's get together as a group of people who passionately follow Jesus Christ, proclaiming the good news to each other. Below there is a link with the lyrics to help you.

"...but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you." 1 Peter 3:15

Important note to parents: Children will be part of the regular service, and we will not have Sunday School, so they can participate in celebrating the baptisms.

See you Sunday,

Tawnya
