Fighting the Good Fight

Passage: 1 Timothy 1:1-20

This Sunday we will start a new sermon series on the books of 1 & 2 Timothy called: Fighting the Good Fight.

Now, just to be clear, we do not hope to encourage or inspire any fist fights through this series—but we do hope to raise up fighters!

What’s with the title?

This is actually a phrase that shows up a couple of times throughout 1 & 2 Timothy, so I suppose you could say that fighting is biblical. But this isn’t a call to any physical fight, it’s a call to fight for truth.

The truth that Paul is urging his young ministry coworker to fight for is the truth of the Gospel, the truth of God’s Word.

This is the same truth that we need to fight for and cling to today, in our world and in our church, because what is true is always in competition with what is false.

So, we hope you join us as we explore what it looks like to fight for truth in a world of lies.
