Re-Affirm Elders in June 2022
As per SCCC’s Constitution & Bylaws, Elders are elected/affirmed to that ministry by the members of SCCC and serve initially for a term of 3 years. At the end of that first term, an Elder is eligible to stand for election/affirmation to serve another 3-year term. However, if an Elder has served two consecutive 3-year terms, that Elder must step down for at least 1 year before being considered again for this ministry.
Here is the situation regarding the current group of 6 Elders:
Earl Slobodian has served for 6 years as an Elder and will be stepping down at the end of June 2022 for at least 1 year’s rest from this ministry. On behalf of the Elders and the members of SCCC, we want to thank Earl for his ministry service, and we ask God to provide Earl with a well-deserved rest.
Rev. Marg Cumberlin has served for 3 years as an Elder. Pastor Marg has stepped down from this ministry and will not be standing for election/affirmation to a second term as an Elder. On behalf of the Elders and the members of SCCC, we want to thank Pastor Marg for her ministry service, and we ask God’s continued blessings on her.
Craig Edwards is in his first 3-year term which will not end until December 2022.
The 3 other Elders (Ron Fox, Russell Irodenko, and Derik Simpson) will complete their first 3-year terms at the end of June 2022 and are eligible to serve a second 3-year term. All 3 of these Elders have agreed to stand for election/affirmation for a second term.
Therefore, the Elders are pleased to present these 3 individuals–Ron Fox, Russell Irodenko, and Derik Simpson–to the members of SCCC as candidates for a second 3-year term as an Elder.

SCCC members will receive an email that will allow them to vote electronically. If you are a member, are reading this post, but have not received a voting email, please contact Craig Edwards at craig@southcalgary.church as soon as possible.
The voting results will be announced during the June 20 2022 Membership Meeting.
