Volunteer at Mustard Seed

The Mustard Seed Ministry at South Calgary needs your help. Check here how you can get involved.

South Calgary Community Church has been supporting the Mustard Seed for the past 27 years.

The Mustard Seed is a Christian organization that works to reduce the impact of homelessness in Calgary.

SCCC supports the seed by providing money and support labour to provide one meal per month at the southern facility.

In the afternoon, SCCC volunteers prepare a meal (traditionally, it has been chicken stir fry). The meal is served in the evening by another team of SCCC volunteers. The work is simple and helps this important ministry, and it feels good to be the hands and feet of Jesus at least once a month.

Lately, we’ve been having a bit of trouble fielding the full complement of volunteers at the seed, so if you are feeling called to help in this area, please contact Maria Ogunbiyi or the church office during office hours. The commitment is actually very small, and the blessed feeling is very great!

Philippians 2:3-4

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility, consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others.
