Read here a heartfelt update from Camp Caroline, where SCCC support is making a tremendous impact. Ben Trites shares his gratitude for SCCC partnership and shares what is happening at camp this summer.
It seems too small to simply say THANK YOU for your support of Camp Caroline. Still, I want to thank you.
Your commitment to the ministry means so much more to us than you will ever know! It is so timely. You are helping us welcome and serve campers and guests.
Our desire, as a ministry, is to encourage first steps in a life-long journey with Jesus; next steps that follow him faithfully; and servant-leadership that exemplifies his compassion and concern for others.
We are having an incredible summer at Camp Caroline and I thought you would appreciate a brief update on the ministry...
Earlier this year, during the school year, thousands of guests attended a retreat at camp and this summer we expect almost 1500 campers with more than 100 staff serving.
What you may not know is that we have a leadership development and discipleship program for high school-aged campers. These campers attend a lead camp. Lead camps run concurrently to grade camps. During these camps, lead campers participate in sessions on following Jesus and serving like him. They also help in various areas throughout the summer. By the end of the summer, we expect to have intentionally invested in the lives of almost 140 emerging leaders!
We also have two mission teams scheduled to serve at camp this summer. We had a team from a local church in Calgary bring a team of students in July and in August we have a team from Falcon Rock in Romania coming for a week. We are thrilled to have these teams serving alongside our summer team!
Next summer, we hope to have more teams from our supporting churches at camp. If your church would be interested in bringing a team, please let me know. We will have limited space for teams.
Throughout all that is happening at camp, we have seen God work in the lives of so many and we are so THANKFUL for all he is doing.
We are so pleased to see so many coming to camp this year and are praying for spiritual impact and growth. Please join us in prayer for the ministry of the camp.
FINANCIAL GIFTS
We believe the church should be the primary place each of us give and want to encourage you to give to your church first. If after giving to your church you have the means and desire to help camp financially, we welcome your gift this summer. Gifts can be directed to the General Fund.
Our regular support need this year is $250,000. This support helps us keep the cost of our camps lower for families. When you give to the General Fund, your gift is directed to this need.
Gifts can be made online at campcaroline.ab.ca/donate.
On behalf of everyone at camp, please accept our appreciation for your support of the ministry of Camp Caroline.
Warmly,
Ben Trites
