Thank You Earl
Every month in our Church Update Email, we take a moment to celebrate one of the many volunteers who serve so faithfully at South Calgary. Our church is blessed with people who give their time and gifts so generously, and our ministry simply wouldn’t be the same without them. This month, we want to express our gratitude to Earl Slobodian . If there is something broken, leaking, rattling, or needing attention in our building, chances are Earl has already been on the roof, in t

Our Coffee and Chats consist of coffee, refreshments, and visiting followed by an interactive Bible Study. Our desire in the Bible Study is to become more effective disciples of Jesus. In the past year, topics have been as div

Missions Team Report 2025
The Missions team had a fulfilling year. Our main project was getting ESL classes launched for October. God guided us and steered us to the right people, and we saw his care in the details. We were led to a Cooperative Ministries breakfast conference in March 2025 whereby contacts were made with other churches and ESL teachers. We even came away with 4 lessons as a door prize! Worship Ministry 2025
I hope you can excuse me for using a football analogy (American football) for how I see this past year in the worship ministry. We are like a good offensive line. We are running well enough that nobody really notices what we are doing because the focus is on the quarterback and the receivers. It’s only when the o-line is not doing its job that you pay attention. At least I hope that’s the perception, I haven’t been receiving complaints lately…please provide them if we’re

Property Committee Report 2025
Highlights from 2025 This past year, the Property Committee's main focus was to continue to seek God's face in terms of possible uses for the land, while testing the lower rent housing as our interpretation of His likely direction (open/closed doors). We also arranged and paid for a Real Property Report plus Surface Topography survey for our 4 acres of land. In keeping with the low rent housing direction, we examined similar developments in the city and looked at actions othe

Food Program Report 2025
We prayed, and the Lord answered! He graciously opened a door and gave us everything we needed to start this new ministry. This is a ministry where we can praise God in countless ways. In early 2025, the Lord brought to our attention the practical need of food within our surrounding community, the Russian Language Ministry, and within our church family. After some discussions last winter, we began to pursue some options for meeting this real and practical need. Initially it d

It has been refreshing to connect on deeper levels as we learn more about each other and bring honest conversations to the group. There is laughter as well which is always good medicine for the heart, shared food, and crafts sometimes. We do end our time with prayer for the requests in the group, the ch

I feel like I am repeating myself (read Sunday School & Youth ministry updates), but over the past number of months we have once again had many new young adults joining us at church on Sundays! It's been so encouraging to see how the Lord has been blessing us and answering our prayers in this way. It's been a busy semester for the young adult ministry so far between our regular Thursday meetings, preparing for Young Adult Sunday, and most recently going on our Young Adult ret
