Seniors Ministry Ministry Report
Deborah and I are honored to serve within South Calgary by being involved in the Seniors Ministry. The primary activity of the Seniors Ministry is the monthly Friday gathering consisting of a “Coffee and Chat” or a “Seniors Lunch” on alternating months. Our Coffee and Chats consist of coffee, refreshments, and visiting followed by an interactive Bible Study. Our desire in the Bible Study is to become more effective disciples of Jesus. In the past year, topics have been as div

Missions Team Report 2025
The Missions team had a fulfilling year. Our main project was getting ESL classes launched for October. God guided us and steered us to the right people, and we saw his care in the details. We were led to a Cooperative Ministries breakfast conference in March 2025 whereby contacts were made with other churches and ESL teachers. We even came away with 4 lessons as a door prize! We learnt some invaluable information by participating in these classes. God opened many doors and r

Worship Ministry 2025
I hope you can excuse me for using a football analogy (American football) for how I see this past year in the worship ministry. We are like a good offensive line. We are running well enough that nobody really notices what we are doing because the focus is on the quarterback and the receivers. It’s only when the o-line is not doing its job that you pay attention. At least I hope that’s the perception, I haven’t been receiving complaints lately…please provide them if we’re

Property Committee Report 2025
Highlights from 2025 This past year, the Property Committee's main focus was to continue to seek God's face in terms of possible uses for the land, while testing the lower rent housing as our interpretation of His likely direction (open/closed doors). We also arranged and paid for a Real Property Report plus Surface Topography survey for our 4 acres of land. In keeping with the low rent housing direction, we examined similar developments in the city and looked at actions othe

Mustard Seed Report 2025
The Mustard Seed Volunteer Ministry continues to be a meaningful part of SCCC’s outreach, serving faithfully on the first Wednesday of every month. This year, we experienced both transitions and blessings within the team. Several long-time volunteers stepped back due to relocation or medical leave, while we welcomed an additional group of four volunteers, bringing the total number of new helpers this year to eight. Volunteer contact information has also been updated to streng

Food Program Report 2025
We prayed, and the Lord answered! He graciously opened a door and gave us everything we needed to start this new ministry. This is a ministry where we can praise God in countless ways. In early 2025, the Lord brought to our attention the practical need of food within our surrounding community, the Russian Language Ministry, and within our church family. After some discussions last winter, we began to pursue some options for meeting this real and practical need. Initially it d

Women's Connect Report 2025
We have continued to meet every fourth Saturday of the month from September to November and January to May. Our numbers are increasing each month as we welcome new ladies. It has been refreshing to connect on deeper levels as we learn more about each other and bring honest conversations to the group. There is laughter as well which is always good medicine for the heart, shared food, and crafts sometimes. We do end our time with prayer for the requests in the group, the ch

Men's Coffee Report 2025
Our Men’s Coffee Time continues to be a steady source of encouragement, fellowship, and practical service within our church family. Each Wednesday from 10:00 AM to noon, a group of 7–9 men gathers for coffee, conversation, and a meaningful time in God’s Word. Every week includes a devotional and discussion on relevant and significant biblical themes that help us grow in faith and wisdom. We intentionally pray for one another, sharing burdens and celebrating God’s faithfulness

Men's Gathering Report 2025
We are excited to start up the new Men's Gathering. Throughout the years, the Church has seen the need for another Men's ministry. We continue to look for God's guidance on what this looks like. As we navigate this new opportunity, we have fellowship and Bible study at the forefront of our time together. As of right now we are about 6-8 guys, alway open for more to join us. We don't have any particular goal but look to God for guidance on what He has next for this ministry. S

The Doll Knitters continue to be a beautiful expression of compassion and creativity within our church family. This past year has been one of meaningful milestones, faithful service, and God-given opportunities to bless children around the world. Young Adults Report 2025
I feel like I am repeating myself (read Sunday School & Youth ministry updates), but over the past number of months we have once again had many new young adults joining us at church on Sundays! It's been so encouraging to see how the Lord has been blessing us and answering our prayers in this way. It's been a busy semester for the young adult ministry so far between our regular Thursday meetings, preparing for Young Adult Sunday, and most recently going on our Young Adult ret

Youth Ministry Report 2025
This new youth ministry year has brought many changes, both to our leadership team and also to our Wednesday night group in general. In many ways the youth ministry is in a season of transition. The landscape of our Wednesday nights is different than last semester, and so far this year we have a much younger group than we have in the past. But, in the midst of all the change, over the past number of months we have seen many more families with youth aged kids attending on Sund

Sunday School Report 2025
Over the last few months our Sunday School ministry has once again grown significantly! We have seen another influx of families with kids, and that means that our Sunday School has been enjoying many new faces. As Sunday School families we were able to gather in Fish Creek for a hot dog roast as we started into the new semester, and the Teachers Strike in October provided an opportunity for some of our kids & youth to go bowling during what would usually be school time. Nursery Report 2025
It has been another great year in the Nursery! The Lord continues to add to the nursery and bring new little ones for us to love, serve, and begin to nurture their spiritual growth. For those that may not know, our nursery serves the youngest members of our church: from babies until they start kindergarten (once in kindergarten they enter into the Sunday School group). A typical Sunday involves time for them to freely play with each other, sing Christian children's songs,
