A Legacy of Faith and Service

South Calgary Community Church has received the sad news of the passing of Dr. Chris Brooks, a longtime friend of our church and a faithful servant of Christ. Dr. Brooks went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2026, at the age of 87, after a short illness.

Some in our congregation will remember Dr. Brooks from his visits in the early 2000s, when he preached at South Calgary Community Church and strengthened our connection with ministry work in Malawi. Through his leadership and vision, our church was privileged to send two mission teams in 2003 and 2006 to Ngodsi, Malawi, where they helped build staff residences for the clinic that would become part of his broader ministry.

Dr. Brooks was a physician and the founder of Lifeline Malawi Health Centre, dedicating his life to serving others both physically and spiritually. His ministry was marked by a deep love for Jesus, unwavering faith, and a commitment to God’s Word. These qualities left a lasting impression on countless people across nations and generations.

In a message shared with friends and partners, his wife, Heather Brooks expressed gratitude for the many prayers and words of encouragement received during this time, noting how deeply meaningful it has been to hear stories of Chris’s faith and the impact of his life. His legacy continues through Lifeline Malawi and through the many lives he touched with compassion, service, and gospel hope.

As a church family, we give thanks for Dr. Brooks’ life and for the partnership we shared in gospel ministry. We also extend our prayers and heartfelt sympathy to Heather and the Brooks family.

Scripture reminds us:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13

May this promise bring comfort as we remember a life well lived for Christ.
