Need a Computer?

We are excited to share a new opportunity to bless families within our church! From time to time, SCCC receives donated desktop computers, and instead of recycling older units, we are preparing a limited number to give away to families who could benefit from having a reliable home computer. These desktops will be set up and ready to use with Chrome OS Flex. If this could be helpful for you or your family, check below to learn more and find out how to request one.

From time to time, South Calgary Community Church is blessed to receive donations of newer desktop computers. In the past, when upgrades were made, older computers were typically sent for recycling. This year, however, we are excited to take a different approach—one that we hope will be a blessing to families within our church community.

Instead of recycling these computers, we are preparing a limited number of desktop PCs to give away to families from our church who may benefit from having access to a reliable home computer. We recognize that a dependable computer can be an important tool for schoolwork, communication, job searching, personal organization, and everyday online tasks.

Each computer will be professionally prepared and configured with Google Chrome OS Flex installed. This operating system provides a simple, secure, and fast experience that functions similarly to a Chromebook. Chrome OS Flex offers several advantages, including improved performance on older hardware, strong built-in security features, automatic updates, and easy access to web-based tools such as Google Docs, Gmail, and other cloud-based applications. For most everyday computer needs, Chrome OS Flex provides a stable and user-friendly experience.

Because the number of available computers is limited, we encourage families who believe this opportunity would be helpful for them to express their interest soon. These computers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

If you are interested in receiving one of these desktop computers or would like more information, please contact Jason Slobodian (jason@southcalgary.church), who is coordinating the preparation and distribution of the devices. Jason will help set up the computer and ensure it is ready for use.

We are grateful for God’s provision through donations and for the opportunity to share these resources within our church family. It is our prayer that these computers will serve as a practical blessing and support to those who receive them.
