We are thrilled to share exciting news within our congregation! Adam Janzen, one of our Youth Leaders, has been selected to participate in a mission trip to Vietnam. Dear South Calgary Community Church Family,
I hope this letter finds you well! Please see below for information about my upcoming mission trip to Vietnam!
On January 19, 2024 I was accepted to be part of a team of students who are going to be involved in a mission trip this spring in Vietnam, which is a part of a ministry called Power to Change.
Power to Change is an interdenominational organization involved in engaging all domains of society, that helps people know Jesus and experience His power to change the world. I have been involved with Power to Change at the University of Calgary for the past 2 years, which has consisted of growing in my own walk with God as well as helping other students take their next step towards Jesus and grow in their faith.
From May 1 to June 12, I will primarily be meeting and spending time with students in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). This will involve engaging with both Christian and non-Christian students in a variety of activities such as going to coffee shops with friends, helping in English clubs, and ministering alongside Vietnamese students. I recognize that God is already at work in Vietnam and will continue to work after we leave the country, and thus my role is simply to be an instrument that God may use over the weeks I am there. I desire to go with humility and flexibility so that wherever I am asked to go and whatever I am asked to do, I may do it with love and ultimately for God's glory. I trust this will be an incredible experience for me personally, and pray that God would use me to be a blessing to those with whom I have an opportunity to minister.
I am really looking forward to this opportunity and as I prepare, I am trusting God for a team of people who will partner with me in prayer and financial support. I am in the process of raising $5900 to cover travel and in-country mission trip expenses.
