Status update on SCCC Property Repairs

At our last Membership Meeting in June 2022, we discussed some repairs to church property that needed to be made. This is a brief update on those repairs.

1. Water leaks into the church from the flat roof and canopy of the church – In July, minor repairs were made to the flat roof portion of the church. The canopy roof portion that is over the main doors was basically replaced. Both the material and labour are warrantied by the contractor for 10+ years.

2. Broken windows in the Nagel House – The main living room window and 2 basement windows were broken during a break-in or an act of vandalism. In July, the 2 basement windows were replaced and a new living room window was ordered; we expect it to be installed by the end of October.

3. Repair/replacement of stucco on the main church building – In August, Earl Slobodian put together quotes from several stucco repair companies. In addition, the alternative of using a product called James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding was presented. So-called Hardie Board is a strong material that could provide a better, long-term solution instead of stucco. Werner Gerl has reached out to several companies that deal in this material but they have been extremely slow to respond to him.

If you have questions about any of these repairs, please speak to Werner Gerl or contact Craig Edwards at craig@southcalgary.church.
